South Zone Women’s U-19 Tournament:
Chittoor Clinch Stunning 10-Wicket Win; Nellore Register Commanding Eight-Wicket Victory
Valmikipuram, July 6 (Jaanam News): Chittoor and Nellore recorded impressive victories in their respective matches of the South Zone Women’s Under-19 One-Day Inter-District Cricket Tournament, organized by the Andhra Cricket Association at the CDCA–GVSCS Grounds in Vayalpad.
In the Group-2 fixture, Chittoor produced a dominant performance to defeat Kurnool by 10 wickets, while Nellore secured a convincing eight-wicket victory over Kadapa.
Winning the toss, Kurnool elected to bat first and posted 230/5 in their allotted 50 overs. M. Sahasra Reddy scored 45 off 60 balls, S. Razia Sultana made 51 from 76 deliveries, S. Vanshika contributed 43 off 64 balls, and A. Rakshitha added 38 from 66 balls. For Chittoor, E. Geya Keerthi starred with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 38 runs, while A. Vishnu Priya picked up one wicket.
Chasing a target of 231, Chittoor’s opening pair delivered a breathtaking batting display. M. Greeshma smashed an unbeaten 101 off just 50 balls, while K. Subhashree remained unbeaten on 103 from 81 deliveries. The duo stitched together an unbroken 231-run opening partnership, guiding Chittoor to victory without losing a wicket in just 21.4 overs and completing one of the most emphatic wins of the tournament.
In the other match, Kadapa won the toss and opted to bat, finishing with 239/5 in 50 overs. G. Neetish scored 66 off 86 balls, V.S. Tanushree made 80 from 99 deliveries, G. Harini remained unbeaten on 41 off 62 balls, while A. Pasyanthi Sri contributed an unbeaten 26 from 32 balls. Nellore’s bowling attack was led by G.V. Sharada Reshma, who claimed two wickets, while Sravana Vaishnavi and M.K. Nikita picked up one wicket each.
Chasing 240, Nellore comfortably reached the target with only two wickets down in 43.4 overs. K. Jessica produced a match-winning innings of an unbeaten 137 off 150 balls, anchoring the successful chase with remarkable composure. A. Sahar provided valuable support with 40 runs from 65 deliveries. For Kadapa, V.S. Tanushree and A. Pasyanthi Sri claimed one wicket apiece.
Expressing their delight over the successful conduct of the tournament and the outstanding performances, CDCA Vice President Sridhar Kumar, President Srinivasa Murthy, Secretary Satish Yadav, and other association members congratulated the winning teams.
The tournament is being conducted under the supervision of Chittoor District Head Coach Sunil Kumar. Selectors Nagalakshmi and Sai Prabhakar, along with district coaches Anitha, Dhanalakshmi, Madhuri, Madhavi, Shekhar, and Mounika representing Chittoor, Anantapur, Nellore, Kurnool, and Kadapa districts, as well as trainer Reddy Raghavendra, were present to witness the matches.
